Mycorrhizal Fungi
Cill Ide Native Plant Nursery uses Ectomycorrhizal or Endomycorrhizal drenches on all of its plant material.
Mycorrhizal fungi naturally occur in the soil of established plants. These fungi serve to fix nitrogen making it more available to the plants.
The inoculation of the plant material while it is in the greenhouse greatly enhances the root systems ability to survive the harsh environmental these plants are sometimes planted in. The need to fertilize is reduced as the fungi make nitrogen more available to the plants. This is of major importance for water quality related projects.
The results are better survival and growth rates, less watering, less use of chemicals and fertilization for all the plants.
